Heckscher Model Yacht Club

  The Heckscher Model Yacht Club welcomes you to their web page. Heckscher Pond is located at the corners of Prime and Madison Streets in Huntington Village, just north of Main Street,  between the Heckscher Art Museum and the Children's Playground. 

  The Club sails on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 Noon, weather permitting, and all year long. The only exceptions are weeds in the Pond during the Summer and ice in the Winter. The Dock is always busy with new and seasoned Skippers alike trying to perfect their sailing skills on a well laid-out race course. While some of the classes of boats sailed here are of the Developmental type, there is also a stock class or One Design Boat ( the Victoria ) that gives everyone an even chance to do well .

   While many members have sailed full size boats before, some have never held a wheel or tiller in their hands. Advice is freely given, new sailors are given lots of encouragement and there is strong, friendly competition with other Long Island Model Yacht Clubs, located at Eisenhower Park in Nassau County and Lake Ronkonkoma and Town of Babylon Pond in Suffolk County.

      So come on down and join in the fun.........there is often an extra boat lying around to let you try out your sailing skills. It's a great way to meet new friends, enjoy a day outside and sail, sail, sail...........

The Ebb and Flow........

     Spring is finally here and the competiton is warming up, along with the daily temperatures.  The Wed. / Sat. race schedule has now gone back to a  10 am start ,

( changed from the winter sailing time of 1 pm ).  There are several new boats out on the pond, some newly built, others having been brought out of storage and transferred to new Skippers.  The recently postponed Victoria Regatta will be raced this coming weekend, weather permitting, C'mon Down !!!

     So, charge those batteries, re-check the rigging and meet us to sail at Heckscher Pond...........
